My rating may not be entirely fair because I like to read recipes more than cook them. Even so, I usually find many recipes I might like to try out, but this was not the case here. Maybe this has something to do with my expectations. When I think of casseroles I think of something relatively simple and inexpensive. However, many of the recipes here seem time-consuming with a long list of ingredients. Many cheesy recipes required two and three types of cheeses along with ingredients like heavy cream and butter. Also, there were no pictures, and the formatting between recipes was inconsistent. Sometimes, when one recipe ended near the top of a page, the next was in a following page. At other times, when one recipe ended near the bottom of the page, the next recipe began two spaces below.
I would have rated this higher but no Table of Contents or Index. I mean really, 100 recipes to slog through with no reference. I looked at enough to know the recipes are good but, sadly, this will never be a go to book for me because of this.You'll need to adapt the recipes a bit for lower fat, i.e., milk instead of cream or 1-2 Tbsp. fat instead of 4-5 but that's a norm anyway.So good but virtually unusable cookbook.
What a great idea for a book. I sometimes think that casseroles have gotten a bum rap in the cooking world and I was glad to see a book devoted only to them.Being from the mid-west (where we call them hot dishes) I am well acquainted with one-dish meals. I was happy to see the variety and number of new casseroles in this book. The breakfast casseroles were of particular interest to me as I make one every Christmas morning and am always looking for new ideas to try. This book did not disappoint. And the dessert casserole recipes sound delicious!I'll be happily trying out the recipes in this book for a long time. Great job Deborah!
I didn't realize that there are so many casseroles that a person can make. I am all about fixing casseroles when we have company to stay over. It is fast and feeds plenty. Great recipe's and good flavors. I really like the fact that I down loaded it to my kindle. That way it goes with me where ever I go. Good ideas.
Huge cookbook lots of recipes. Table of content not that good. Takes you to three groups then you have to search for the recipe you want. I gave five stars because of recipes that are fond within. Thank you and enjoy your meal and enjoy your day.
I really enjoyed this book. I have been on the hunt for a casserole recipe book and this one really locked. Made 3 of the recipes so far and I have to admit they are great. Taste just like my grandmothers old casserole. Thanks!!!
This book is loaded with casseroles for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even desserts! Who knew? Formatted perfectly for Kindle Fire HDX. Can't wait to try out these interesting casseroles!
Scratch recipes. My own approach to casseroles is to basically open cans. Haven't looked thru the whole book yet but they looked good. Many non-meat casseroles which is good for the vegetarian in my house.
