Toni Raiten-D'Antonio, is a well-known psychotherapist with a thriving private practice in Suffolk County, Long Island. She is a professor of psychology and social work at Empire State College. She has two daughters and lives in New York with her husband, the Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Michael D'Antonio.

This book is very much a "MUST READ" especially for Moms, Dads and alll Teachers of allages and Therapists as well. The author has done a great job at pulling out all of the hiddenwisdom in the Velveteen Rabbit Book. Just an awe inspiring and awesome book for all peopleto read and pass on to their younger children and or adults struggling with how they were raised.God bless, Charity and Grace PS I have purchased several copies and given them to others,friends, Therapist, family members. This awesome book "The Velveteen Principles" delivers all that it promises; "Celebrate your authentic self..." I humbly add that this hidden wisdom is real magic for all seasons, not just the holidays. The brilliant fact that author, Toni Raiten-D'Antonio took the Children's Classic "The Velveteen Rabbit" and gave us "a guide to becoming real" through love is truly a blessing.Like Alice in wonderland, I took this book and fell into my rabbit hole of enchanting and engaging discoveries. "The Velveteen Rabbit" is a must read for parents, teens, and people of all ages to glean principles such as "Real is Honest, Real is Courageous" to restore the character ethic. The life lessons re. self empathy, and self esteem, contribute to learning to love ourselves and celebrate our realness to be more empathetic toward others. Without further ado, what most attracted me to "The Velveteen Principles" is that it provides a voice of hope for our girls, who need wholehearted parenting and role models of what being real and true to themselves really means. This book not only answers those questions, but is a map to discover treasuring ourselves.
Each section has very useful information. Well written and easy to follow along with.This book is based off of the classic children's book "The velveteen rabbit" by Margery Williams so you need to read it first.

This book was very easy to read through and I loved the comparisons the author made with the children's novel, The Velveteen Rabbit. This is definitely a book that everyone should have on their bookshelf for reference and to periodically to be brought back down to earth and realize what's really important and what's not. It gave me a peace of mind right when I needed it and let me know that everything was gonna be okay and long as I remained "real". Perfect gift giver! Great book!
